Statistics: Russian mortality soars by 32.5% in August
MOSCOW, Oct 8 (PRIME) – Russia’s mortality increased by 32.5% in August on the year while the birth rate fell by 1%, the Federal State Statistics Service said in a statement on Friday.
In the reporting period 208,237 people died, including 38,603 with COVID-19 stated as the main reason and 4,977 as potentially the main reason of death; 125,357 people were born.
In January–August, mortality grew by 18.5% to about 1.52 million people.
